Pebble mosaic floor on Symi island, Greece

Some time ago was browsing the internet for something else, came across these magnificent, meaningful pictures of people on pilgrimage on the island of Symi, published on a wordpress blog in 2008 and did not wish they remain neglected by my blog. here's the article, written in Greek. for more pebble floors see previous posts.

  1. The pebble mosaics of the Dodecanese are really amazing, I'm always fascinated by them! I love the little island of Symi and your post brought back wonderful memories of hot summer days in Gialos and Xorio... I've been at Panormitis many times :)

  2. I've heard that people in Greece sometimes go to Delos as a festival / pilgrimage. Such a great culture with so much history...

  4. oh Mosaicista- I should say Missoni the fashion house must surely be inspired by the mosaic. I wondered if you have post about them in the past- I did not see them in your archives list though I now think I have read something here on them- sorry to be so dense.
