Lezioni sul mosaico - Gino Severini's book - 1996 edition

update: SOLD

A few days ago if you tried to buy Lezioni sul Mosaico by Gino Severini you would have across nothing. It wasn't available online. The book is now available. It's my very own book I bought about 16-17 years ago. Since I don't need it anymore and really need to make space for new books I decided to sell it.

A book for children illustrated with stained glass mosaics

This is a quick post to share something really interesting!

A children's book illustrated with stained glass mosaic images by artist Christine Brallier.

The artist has spent more than four years creating the 15 mosaics featured in the classic story "The night before Christmas" written by Clement C. Moore.

How lovely!

A dopo.

How a lost empire shaped the world (you know which one, right?)

Sailing from Byzantium: How a Lost Empire Shaped the World - A book by Colin Wells

I was about to publish something else about - what else - Byzantium and this book appeared on the screen so now I am almost certain that I am not going to finish Nelson De Mille's "The Gate House". Sorry. I love you but first things first.

What about you?

Aren't you just a little bit curious to find out how the Byzantine Empire shaped the world?

Here's a quote from a Good Reads review of Sailing from Byzantium:
Their heroic efforts inspired the Renaissance, the golden age of Islamic learning, and Russian Orthodox Christianity, which came complete with a new alphabet, architecture, and one of the world’s greatest artistic traditions.
The book doesn't cost much. You get it for £10.97 or £6.71. When it comes to books, I don't look at the price. I look at how much it will cost me NOT to have it. But, hey, this is me.

Mosaic of the Med: Article on Cyprus by James Fryer

At the Mosaics of (Pafos) Paphos, faded, tiled floors became storybooks exposing the passionate tales which inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, reveal the origin of bay leaves and issue warnings about what happened to the world’s first wine drinkers. But reinforcing how the 1974 invasion has impacted upon the island, we also heard how bombings had caused more damage to the mosaics than had been done since their creation in the third century BC.
