Artistic mosaics created with software aka The Mosaic Project

via mosaicproject.it

You (all) know I sometimes create digital mosaics that are available from the mosaicology shop.

I make my digital mosaics by hand. I mean I use the "good old" mouse. However, did you know you can actually use a software to do just that? I am not talking about constructing industrial-style mosaics with straight lines and no real manual-artisan intervention. I am talking about creating artistic mosaics, resembling real ones! Works of art.

The guy behind this software is Simone Aielli and you can find out more about The Mosaic Project right here.

The potential of this software is beyond your wildest mosaic dreams. And that's from someone who loves ancient and Byzantine mosaics.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Mosaic organisms

Today's mosaic inspiration is a work of Jane du Rand. I have never seen something like this before.A rather edgy demonstration of how mosaic can be applied to translate all aspects of life.

note: Mosaic organisms is the title of this post and not the series of mosaics. It would be interesting to know if the artist has given a title to these pieces.

girl with a pearl earring - #mosaic

Here's one of my favourite paintings "remade" by Jane Perkins, an artist who makes mosaics using a variety of materials. What a gifted artist!

An amazing mosaic portrait using legos or Adam Baldwin as a source of inspiration

The artist behind this lego mosaic artist is Dave Ware and his website is called .... BRICKWARES. Quite spot on! He makes mosaics using legos. When I saw this picture I immediately thought of "Chuck" the TV series where Adam Baldwin played the part of a detective. That TV series had inspired me to write a post on Freelance Writing Dreams (where you will find me from time to time doing some writing work). The post was called ARE YOUR FREELANCE WRITING DREAMS DOOMED? There's a very good reason why I used the word "DOOMED" and it had something to do with an Adam Baldwin's line.

So you can say that Adam Baldwin HAS provided the INSPIRATION for a MOSAIC PORTRAIT and a FREELANCE MOTIVATIONAL POST.

Go to BRICKWARES site and see more fascinating lego mosaics!

Boring nights looking at the stars or Mosaic made out of various images from the Hubble Space Telescope

It's incredible what a boring night looking at the stars can bring about! This mosaic is a collage of various images that Harvard astronomer Alex Parker collected while gazing at the stars. The image recreates a Van Gogh's famous painting and it's yet another proof of how versatile mosaic art can be. Find out more in this article here posted on 21/09/2012 on Discovery News.
