Heraclea Lyncestis: Colourful floral, animal, pattern mosaics

If I had to choose a mosaic panel for my dream living room it would be something along the lines of the mosaics from the ancient town of Heraclea Lyncestis. Blends with all styles. Classical, minimal, lavish, high tech.

You?

  1. Hello!

You showed up over at my blog http://colourific.blogspot.com/ a couple of months ago.Thank you.

I've been meaning to check in and say that I think your work is rather exquisite! I love mosaics too. In fact, I have a beautiful post card in front of me from the Basilica di Santa Maria from a trip I took to Rome years back.
    Where are you located?

  4. Those are very nice for decor. They are in the basilica floor now?

For one of my walls, I would like a typical mosaic example of Orpheus with the animals. It seems like those Roman works incorporated the newly discovered wonder of Aegypt's animals.

And for a different wall, maybe a geometric recreated part of the Curia Julia floor.

  5. @ Eric

They are in the Great Basilica.

Part of the remains on the site are a Small and a Great (Large) basilica.
