Hi everyone and happy 2016!

This is a quick post to share an interesting story about Yeggy Michael, a Seattle based mosaic artist who creates public works of art that tell the stories of the community. Read this and this.

You (all) know I sometimes create digital mosaics that are available from the mosaicology shop.

I make my digital mosaics by hand. I mean I use the "good old" mouse. However, did you know you can actually use a software to do just that? I am not talking about constructing industrial-style mosaics with straight lines and no real manual-artisan intervention. I am talking about creating artistic mosaics, resembling real ones! Works of art.

The potential of this software is beyond your wildest mosaic dreams. And that's from someone who loves ancient and Byzantine mosaics.

We like the idea of using faux-mosaic on a tile as this could inspire interesting combinations for decorative ideas. Hearts go everywhere. In a frame, on kitchen walls, in the living room.

The sound of the stones

His name is Pinuccio Sciola, a sculptor and muralist from Sardinia. His work reminds me of mosaic cubes. They also remind me of how nature holds secrets we are too small to see with bare eyes.

Mosaic organisms

Today's mosaic inspiration is a work of Jane du Rand. I have never seen something like this before.A rather edgy demonstration of how mosaic can be applied to translate all aspects of life.

note: Mosaic organisms is the title of this post and not the series of mosaics. It would be interesting to know if the artist has given a title to these pieces.
